Could you clarify whether code release is required for this competition?
It does say something about an MIT license in the rules, but not in the challenge rules.

An express code release is not required for this competition. However the participants will have to share their (reproducible) code with the organizers for a manual verification before any prizes can be claimed.
That said, the nature of the Community Contribution Prizes require the associated code to be released publicly, however you have complete freedom to choose a license of your choice to release the code under.

PS: the site wide Terms impose an MIT license if you do not attach a license already. In case if you attach a license of your choice, then that overrides the default MIT license.
