I had a look around both EMNLP 2025 and wordplay website, but it doesn’t seem clear when is the deadline for the technical report submission.
Since the challenge in AI Crowds ends in June 30, will the deadline for paper submission come after June 30?

Can anyone submit a paper to Wordplay - EMNLP 2025 Workshop, regardless of the leaderboard result in AI Crowds?

Is it submitted to EMNLP? And if the paper is released later on, will it be published by EMNLP? Or will it be treated more lightly as a technical report submitted to a shared track?

The participant is most likely referring to another challenge, not yours.

Q1 – Submission Deadline
The exact deadline for submitting the technical report hasn’t been confirmed yet. Workshop submissions are independent of both the main EMNLP deadline (May 19) and the Industry Track (July 4).
For the shared task, we’ll align the paper submission timeline with the end of the challenge (June 30) and the announcement of results. Right now, we’re tentatively aiming for a deadline around late August, but this may change depending on the official EMNLP workshop schedule, which we’re still waiting on.
Q2 – Who Can Submit
Anyone who participates in the challenge can submit a paper; it’s not limited to the top teams or winners. We encourage all participants to share their work.
Q3 – Publication Details
At the moment, we don’t have confirmation on whether shared task papers will be included in the official EMNLP proceedings. That decision will come from the workshop organisers, and we’ll share an update once we hear from them.
